"Figuration Non-Figuration"

The figuration/non-figuration project proposes to compare in a single exhibition the two worlds of painting to allow to observe the elements which oppose them and those which connect them.

It allows us to observe the passages from one world to another and questions our knowledge of the notion of figure and non-figure, of representation and visual abstraction through the pictorial medium.

Instead of separating figuration from non-figuration, the "no" of non-figuration does not constitute a negation but rather an encompassing of figuration, and vice versa.

The idea is to offer an inter-, even transdisciplinary exhibition, where a painting can be both figurative and non-figurative.

To conclude, this project brings together plastic research on the appearance of phenomena and encourages the questioning of acquired definitions.

During the opening of the exhibition, there was an experimental and intuitive musical intervention by Giuliano Arpetti, who interpreted under the visual influence of the paintings a sound improvisation of the figuration/non-figuration.
